Women Only Climbing and Hill Walking Courses
We are happy to provide climbing and walking courses for anyone regardless of age, sex, or background. Being an all female team though does put us in a strong position to offer women only courses.
So if you would like to develop your skills and knowledge with a female mountain instructor either individually, or as part of an all female group, then please get in touch with us. Similarly, if you would be interested in an all female climbing holiday then let us know. We have a few possibilities lined up and we’ll put them into action if there is sufficient demand.
Women Versus Men in the Climbing World
People often draw comparisons between male and female climbers. You’ll hear of blokes beefing their way up climbs using their upper body strength, and lasses strutting their stuff in terms of precision and flexibility. There are certainly a few examples that would support this general assumption. Mr ‘1000 Pull Ups A Day’ Stevie Haston (right), and the lady rocking the UK at the moment, Hazel Findlay (above), would fit nicely with these distinctions.
However, as with everything there are always exceptions that defy. At the super petite height of 5’1″ Lynn Hill stormed the world wide climbing scene and few could come close to her strength, commitment or endurance – be they male or female.
Arguably one of the finest climbers today, Steve MccClure, is not among the strongest of climbers – by his own admission strength is not his forte. Rather approaching climbs tactically and seeking efficiency of movement is the key to his successes. So ultimately we are all individuals regardless of body bits, and we all have our own strengths and we all have areas that we can develop further.
