Navigation on Exmoor
Exmoor was designated a National Park in 1954 and it covers an area of 267 square miles across the counties of Somerset and Devon. Unlike the granite tors of Bodmin and Dartmoor, Exmoor offers smooth undulating hillsides to explore and an impressive coastline revealing layer upon layer of rock strata. Exmoor’s variety of landscape provides a beautiful setting to develop your navigation skills.
Whether you’re new to hill walking and want to know the basics of how to use a map and compass, or if you need to perfect your navigation skills ready for an assessment, we can work with you to achieve your ambitions.
The VIXON team pride ourselves on a taking a calm, progressive approach to navigation training. We take time to make sure the basic skills are understood and use games and exercises to consolidate your learning. Operating in small groups or on a 1:1 basis also means that you can really focus on your skills and it reduces the pressure that some people feel when they’re navigating in front of others.
