VIXON provides 1:1 and small group coaching and climbing courses in the UK. As with all of the VIXON Climbing instruction, we tailor it to what you would like to focus on. Whether that’s getting the skills and knowledge to start climbing outside, or getting top tips and practice for leading routes, or even getting to grips with multi pitch climbing.
We typically provide climbing instruction on the sea cliffs, crags and tors of Devon and Cornwall, however, we are more than happy to travel to other locations by request.
Below are a few examples of the types of climbing instruction we can provide for individuals and small groups. Don’t forget though, these are just examples. We will tailor how we work with you to your key objectives, your level of skills and knowledge and how you would like to spend your time!
Personal Climbing Coaching
We can work with you personally on exactly what you would like to learn, whether that’s practicing more efficient rope work skills, developing your climbing movement and technique or getting your head in gear for leading routes. Any of the VIXON climbing courses are available on a personal coaching basis.
Introduction to Climbing at Climbing Walls
We can introduce you to the equipment, skills and techniques required for safely climbing independently in climbing walls.
Climbing Technique & Movement
Spend some time focusing on you! We can work with you to analyse, develop, and refine your climbing movement skills and technique whether that’s in the wall or at the crag.
So you’ve been climbing in the wall and want to take it to the next level. We can introduce you to the equipment, skills and techniques required for safely climbing at single pitch crags.
Learn simple, easy-to-remember methods for safely setting up climbs. It doesn’t need to be a complex, confusing tangle of ropes – honestly!
Learn how to prevent and solve problems that can arise when you’re climbing. A progressive approach helps you to develop the skills you need to stay safe!
Develop your Leading Skills
Getting on to the ‘sharp end’ of the rope can be pretty intimidating for many people. We can work with you so that you can progressively, safely, develop your leading ability and confidence.
Progressing on to Multi Pitch Routes
Experience the excitement of some of the longer, classic climbs. This is your chance to have a multi pitch climbing adventure and learn new skills along the way!
Bolts to Trad’ – Introduction to Traditional Climbing for Sport Climbers
Traditional climbing, in which the protection is placed rather than bolted, is common throughout the UK. We can introduce you to the equipment, skills and techniques required for safely climbing outside in the UK.
Developing your Climbing Partnership
When you are operating as a pair it is difficult to be able to safely monitor each other’s skills. This can be particularly tricky with two novices, or in situations in which one partner has less experience than the other. We can spend time working with you to provide coaching and top tips to ensure you work safely and effectively together.
Preparation for Climbing Assessments
Whether you have a college course assessment or you’re planning to do your instructor qualifications, we’re happy to work with you to tackle any aspects of your performance so that you’re in a competent, and confident position for that assessment.
Organise Exclusive Training Courses for your Club or Group
Don’t forget we are also able to provide exclusive training courses coaching for individuals, small groups, clubs, or organisations. These can be arranged at a convenient location for you and we offer a discount for group bookings. Please contact us if you would like to chat through different options.
